Shanghai Urban Construction Vocational College is the largest state-run higher vocational college in Shanghai. It is formed by merging Shanghai Technical College of Urban Management and Shanghai Jianfeng Vocational College with the academic education sector of Shanghai Vocational College of Trade Union. The College has a long history, which can be dated back to the predecessor founded in 1956, Shanghai Amateur Civil Construction College. 


The college owns three campuses in Fengxian, Yangpu and Baoshan, covering an area of 124 acres with a total building area of 222,000 square meters. Shanghai Construction Engineering School in Minhang District is an affiliated technical secondary school of the College. The College has a School of Continuing Education in downtown area. 


There are nearly 12,000 full-time college students recruited from 24 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities national wide. The College has about 660 staff members, including 418 full-time teachers. Statistics has shown that among the faculty of SUCC, 28 percent of the teachers are associate professors or full professors, while 76 percent are holders of either Master’s Degree or PhD Degree. 


Currently, there are 39 available majors, including 4 state-level key programs and 13 municipal-level key programs. In the College, there are 141 domestically leading campus practical teaching facilities, such as the Shanghai public practical training base for construction, the Shanghai public practical training base for property management and the BIM practical training room, which integrate education, training and verification of professional technical abilities. Besides, there are 12 master studios. The College has established stable cooperative relationships with Shanghai Construction Group, Shanghai Urban Construction Group and other dozens of famous enterprises at home and abroad, and has jointly built 216 off-campus practice bases. The College has 16 specialties for joint secondary vocational education and higher vocational education and 2 pilot specialties for joint higher vocational education and undergraduate education. 


The College actively gears to state and Shanghai industrial/urban construction and development strategies, centers on the school operation orientation of cultivating talents in urban construction, management and service, adheres to the school philosophy of “foster morality, cultivate talents, establish career”, practices a new talent cultivation mode characterized by modern apprenticeship system, establishes a new industry-education integrating mechanism based on “cooperation, openness and all-win game”, creates the campus culture of nourishing people with “craftsman + model worker” spirits, and cultivates high-quality international-vision-carried technical talents who well master international rules and serve urban construction and development.
